Grand PrizeGrand Prize is composed of four simple guys who want to bring people to God. In an unusual answer to the standard "How did you get started?" interview question, Luke Caldwell (lead singer) says "The Lord literally dropped this in our lap and asked us to be faithful." While attending Bible college in Austria, a young woman walked up to him and handed him a guitar, saying God had told her to give it to him.

"I thought it was a little strange at first, because I couldn't sing to save my life and had no rhythm at all," he recalls.  "So I had my roommates pray for me, that God would enable me if He truly wanted me to do this.  And He has.  I've never taken guitar or voice lessons; none of us have.  The fact that we are doing this is a total miracle, and God truly gets all the glory, because I definitely never thought that we would be doing this.

As of last year the band signed with Apostrophe Records, a label recently started by platinum-selling Christian and Latin singer Jaci Velasquez and distributed by Word Entertainment, a division of Warner Music Group. They tour full time throughout the country but continue to lead worship at Calvary Chapel Boise when they are home.

Caldwell concludes, "We honestly believe that there is nothing good in us except what God has placed there.  Being a youth pastor for the last five years, I have seen how desperately this generation needs Jesus Christ. We hope to be able to show His love in practical ways and be a voice for Christ in this generation."

Grand Prize includes Luke Caldwell (vocals), Tony Caruso (bass), Stephen Harder (electric guitar) and Doug McFerrin (drums).

Grand Prize
Reveal Your Love

Half worship, half pop/rock band Grand Prize make a solid contribution to praise music in their 2003 debut album "Reveal Your Love." Describing themselves as "four simple guys who love Jesus" and hope to "make a real difference in the lives of youth," Grand Prize combines the sounds of Switchfoot and Jeremy Camp with the clear message of the Good News. The members of Grand Prize write their songs—from upbeat rockers to pensive melodies—by drawing on their own spiritual experiences. With few embellishments, the lyrics express the adoration, thankfulness, and humility of a faith that takes a relationship with Christ seriously. "That's what we want to inspire," says lead singer Luke Caldwell, "a relationship, not a religion." A hearty blend of bass, electric guitar, drums and vocals, with occasional orchestration, Grand Prize's music facilitates that message. "We don't have any desire to become rock stars," adds Caldwell. "We just want to do what God wants."
